Ken Ballogdajan and his sister Aki opened their first restaurant, KENAKI Sushi Counter, in Gaithersburg in 2018. Their sushi and omakase counter at The Roost features a couple of familiar signature Makimonos including White Tiger (seared scallop, salmon, eel, granny smith apple, avocado, puffed rice, sweet shoyu, chunky rayu), alongside new creations exclusive to AKO – Red Phantom Roll (white onion ponzu vinaigrette, lump crab meat, roasted asparagus, avocado, tempura flakes, yukari) and J-POP (seared salmon belly, shrimp tempura, pickled jalapeño, cream cheese, cilantro pesto, crispy garlic).
