125 Proof

This is a nine year old single barrel from the Barton distillery location of Buffalo Trace-Sazerac. Full proof single barrels of 1792 are rare, and exceptionally delicious. Barton distillery has been around since 1879, and has been in Sazerac's hands since 2009, producing some of the oldest Bourbon in Kentucky, frequently sold to be used in blends by non-distilling producers with their own labels at a significant markup. Just from the color of the whiskey - a dark, rusty gold - you can see the clear age and concentration, showing how mature this whiskey is. On the nose, notes of tobacco leaf, library books, and brandied cherries appear, with a hint of marzipan. On the palate: star anise, rich caramel, and oolong tea lead into a long, warming finish of absinthe soaked dark cherries.
